Maxelâ Rome

Borgo Vittorio is located between Castel Sant’Angelo and St. Peter’s Square, and gives an enchanting glimpse of Rome with an atmosphere that blends an historical mood with the present-day cordiality of the locals who live there;
here Maxela was born , a restaurant attached to a butchers shop that preserves the typical simplicity of the old shop trades.
The entrance is dominated by the meat counter, expertly managed by the butcher who recommends the best cuts, which can be cooked in four different ways: rare, grilled, pan-broiled or fried. With its barrel vaulted brick ceilings and bottles of wine on display, the union between the butchers shop and the wine cellar is clearly visible. The tables are wooden bases with marble laid on top, reminiscent of those of Genovese tripe shops, and the tablecloths are “picagette” (“tea towels”). The table settings are completed by wine goblets, water glasses with handles and wooden blocks where the knives are inserted.
The single theme and the continual search for better stock breeding allows us to sustain a concept that for us is fundamental ....to constantly maintain an optimal balance between quality and price.
